SWIM TEAM
On February 12
th, 2014 the ESA swim team competed at the West Region Swimming
Championships and had a fantastic meet.
12 personal best’s, 52 top 10 finishes and 22 medals:
7 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze.
Being one of the smaller teams, ESA’s swim program has consistently proven to have some
the best swimmers in the West Region and this year is no different.
Our small Men’s team, consisting of 3 Seniors and 5 Juniors,
was impressive as usual finishing 5
th overall out of 8 schools. Pretty incredible when you consider all the teams ahead and behind
us had at least twice as many boys.
BUT, for the first time in the ESA Swim Team’s 10 year history, our Junior and Senior Girls
showed that they are a powerhouse of swimming in the West Region racking up one of the biggest
points totals in the last 10 years as they became the West Region Overall Girls Team
Champions!
Additional icing was provided by the Senior Women who also won the Senior
Women’s team title!
Our Junior Women’s Team came 2nd and missed 1st by only 4 points!!!
Quite an accomplishment!
Our Team finished ranked 3 overall in the West Region!
Special Congratulations to grade 9 student Micaela McNulty for winning Gold Medals in both
the 50 meter and 100 meter Breaststroke, a Bronze Medal in the 50 Freestyle and a Silver
medal anchoring the 4×50 Freestyle Relay. Micaela goes into the City Championships on
Wednesday February 19th being ranked #1 in Toronto in both 50 and 100 Breaststroke! Quite
an accomplishment for her first year on the team!
