Arts Showcase Auditions

Arts Showcase auditions are Monday March 25th after school.
Auditions start at 3:30 and are first come, first served in room 110 & 111.
See Mr. Payne, Ms. Benjafield, Mrs. Bourne or Mr. Cunningham for details.
We’re looking for pieces from any major, all majors and mixed majors.

ShowCase-page-001On Friday, April 12th, the Music Theatre Department at ESA is proud to present their annual Showcase, a night of music featuring the classes and ensembles of the department. This final school performance of the year showcases each grade in performance, plus the award winning ensembles Splash, Chamber Choir, Jamme, WoCo and Glo. The “one night only” evening also features the winners of this year’s Aria Competition as part of a richly diverse evening of music and performance. Tickets are just $20 (plus $1.50 service charge) and will sell out fast – get yours today!

ESA Music Department presents “Ensemble Night 2013”

On Wednesday March 27th at 7:00 pm, please join us at Runnymede United Church for a wonderful evening of Chamber Music, featuring the Band and String majors. No tickets are required and Admission is Pay What You Can. Please contact the music office at 416-394-6910, extension 5 if you have any questions.

Volunteer with Harmony Singers of Etobicoke

The Harmony Singers of Etobicoke (www.harmonysingers.ca) are looking for volunteers to assist with their Spring concerts.  They have two  concerts in the Spring – this year they will take place on Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25. These concerts will take place at Martin Grove United Church, which is located at 75 Pergola Rd., off of Martin Grove Rd., 4 lights north of Rexdale Blvd.  They would need volunteers probably from about 6:30 p.m. to about 10:30 p.m. each night.

On the days of our concerts, they need assistance at the ticket table, with ushering, stage set-up and take-down.  They may also require assistance on rehearsal days (Monday evenings) approaching concert time.

Outdoor painting workshop scholarship opportunity

A scholarship program is available for a student to study outdoor painting in British Columbia.  Please see the attached poster for details: scholarship poster  . Summer Art Camp

Summer Art Camp 2013!

Last year we had a wonderful week at ESA with new students getting to know one another and current students building portfolios.

This year will see two weeks of camp for both groups for a more involved session of preparation, experimentation, and learning!

Location: Etobicoke School of the Arts, 675 Royal York Road, Toronto, Ontario
Dates: July 2-5, 8-12 (Special accommodation for one-week attendance may be possible)
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Having read through the results of the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, it is exciting to see that of the 44 Gold and Silver medals awarded to Canadians, 24 went to students from ESA! Congratulations everyone who participated and a special congratulations to everyone about to show in New York!
