ESA Music Theatre a Windy City Success Story!

This past week 122 Music Theatre students, teachers and chaperones traveled to Chicago to participate in two music festivals, and returned home triumphant and proud! Five different extracurricular ensembles competed in two different festivals and each group was honoured with fantastic results and advanced to a higher level of competition. Chamber Choir, Jamme and WoCo competed as part of the national Heritage Music Festival series, each group winning Gold in their category, and Jamme being named best overall choral ensemble and ESA named best choral program. These choirs qualified to participate in next year’s Festival of Gold at Carnegie Hall, and were lauded with praise for their musicality and professionalism. Splash and Glo competed in the FAME Show Choir competition and brought home 3rd place and 1st place in their respective categories, and both were invited to compete in the FAME Finals next month. In addition, Splash was awarded Best Show Design and Tyler Pearse was named Best Male Vocalist of the competition in an extremely competitive field.

Congratulations to all of our incredibly talented students and their leaders for the success of these competitions, and for representing ESA with pride and professionalism!

Busiest Spring Ever! 15 Events!

ESA Visual Art, Photography, and Film invite you to FIFTEEN openings and events in the coming weeks (in two countries!) in our busiest spring ever!!

This follows on our recent success in the 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards in which Etobicoke School of the Arts won more awards at the national level than any COUNTRY in the world other than the USA!

We would love to have you join us for a series of nine art openings at ESA on Thursday nights from April to June. Openings take place from 3.30 pm to 8pm each Thursday night at Etobicoke School of the Arts, 675 Royal York Road, M8Y 2T1.

May 22nd is the opening of our Year End Art Show. Last year people lined up to purchase more than $15000 worth of work. This is an amazing opportunity to collect work by young artists that post-secondary programs consider amongst the best in the world. Visitors are invited to join us from 3.30 to 8pm to view several thousand works in a range of media by students in both Visual Art and Photography classes.

Art Talk 2 on April 11th follows our hugely successful Art Talk 1 which took place in December at ESA. Fifteen ESA students will be speaking about their connection to the work they are making.  OCADU has graciously donated the use of their Auditorium for this event – thank you!   Look for us in The Grid on Thursday April 10th!
