Holiday Reads…

Holiday Reads is Back!!

Drop by the Library Circulation Desk and fill out a Holiday Reads ballot.

  • Tell us what book you’re planning on reading this Winter Break
  • Or tell us what book is your favourite Winter Read ever

Every book recommendation submitted will be entered into our Annual Holiday Draw.

Five lucky winners will go home for the holiday with books and blankets and more!  Draw to take place on Thursday December 22nd.

See work from over 75 of ESA’s filmmakers.

Tickets are available here or available in the foyer starting on Friday.  Three non-perishable food items (to be donated to The Daily Bread Food Bank) will get you a half price ticket.  That’s a sweet deal, if you ask me.

This Week’s ESA Science Grade 10 Lunch-time Tutorial

ESA Science is pleased to continue the weekly “Lunchtime Tutorials” for Grades 9 and 10.

This Thursday, Mr. Berkan will review Grade 10 “The Cell Cycle and Mitosis“.

Tutorials take place in Room S14 and begin about 15 minutes into lunch. The atmosphere is very welcoming and students may eat lunch.

 

ESA’s STEM Council Visitor – Engineer and Lawyer, Ms. Tamila Ivanov

ESA’s STEM Council (Science Technology Engineering and Math) is hosting a visit from Ms. Tamila Ivanov today (Wednesday) at lunch (12:10 pm to 12:50 pm) in Room S14. Ms. Ivanov will discuss her experiences involving civil engineering and real estate law.

All are welcome. Students may eat their lunches during this informal discussion.

Next Wednesday, STEM will host a visit from engineer Michael Smith. In the new year, Tracey Stockley, a clinical lab director, will visit. Stay tuned for details.

STEM is always looking for family or community volunteers who would be willing to discuss their STEM experiences with interested students at lunch. Please contact STEM student leader, Julia Jairath at [email protected]

The 60 Second Film Fest is coming…

On Wednesday, December 21st at 3:30pm in the auditorium, one of the school’s great holiday traditions, The 60 Second Film Fest, returns.  Finish off the 2016 school year by enjoying a show that will screen work from over 75 different filmmakers.

Tickets are available here and will sell out, so don’t wait and risk disappointment.

Please join us for the sixth installment of this internationally acclaimed speaking series featuring fifteen current ESA students from grades 10-12.
Art Talk 6 takes place at OCADU from 7-9pm on Friday December 16. We normally fill the auditorium – please try to be there by 6.50pm to ensure seats.

Our annual End of Year Art Show and Sale will take place Thursday, May 26, 2017. We open for business at 3.30pm and run until 9pm

Donations
We are always thrilled accept donations of unwanted art supplies of any kind. We are especially keen on: Ink, Acrylic Paint, Oil Paint, Brushes, Drawing Materials, Pastels, Paper, Canvas Stretchers, Canvas, Tools, Camera Equipment, Wax, and Latex House Paint. All donations can be dropped off during the day in our school office at 675 Royal York Road in Etobicoke.
Financial donations of more than $20 are eligible for a tax receipt.
