TDSB STUDENT EMAIL LAUNCH FOR STUDENTS GRADES 4 TO 12

We have been introducing students to their new TDSB student e-mail addresses since the beginning of the year.  This has been a fairly seamless process, with the exception of the Grade 9’s or any other student who is new to the building this year.

These problems should be resolved by the end of this coming week, as per the following notice put out by IT Services yesterday…

Grade 9 students are encouraged to access their AW accounts, and get into their student Google Drives to confirm the status of their TDSB G-mail inboxes after Oct 21st.  Any students who still encounter difficulties should pop into the Library for assistance.

On October 21, 2014 the TDSB will launch student email accounts to further support learning in a digital age. Interested teachers will have an additional way to communicate, collaborate and make connections to the curriculum with students.

Students will access their TDSB email through Academic (AW) Workspace aw.tdsb.on.ca by selecting the “Mail” tab. Access to AW is available 24/7 from anywhere in the world on any device with an internet connection. Below is a summary of TDSB email initiative:

  • Kindergarten to Grade 3: TDSB email is not provided*
  • Grades 4 – 5: Internal – communicate with TDSB students and staff only
  • Grades 6 – 12:  External – communicate with TDSB students, staff and email accounts outside of TDSB
  • Grade 3 students in a 3/4 combined class may be added to the Student Email group in LAS with principal’s approval.

Gmail (Google mail), as part of TDSB’s Google Apps for Education set of digital learning tools, will be the student email product.
