FACES – ESA Community Choir

FACES in performance Feb 28, 2018 at Runnymede United Church.

School parents, community members, alumni, extended family, staff of ESA – this is your chance to make music with the ESA community!

FACES (Family, Alumni and Community of ESA Sing) is ESA’s pop up community choir!

We started FACES choir January-February 2018 and after seven weeks of rehearsals, culminated with a wonderful concert at Runnymede United Church, “Show me a Smile” on February 28, 2018, featuring ESA alumni, students, family and community members coming together. It was a huge success with over 60 members signed up, and many singers commented on what a positive, enriching and connecting experience it was. Not to mention, we sounded fabulous!

Our second round was in Fall 2018, culminating in our “FACES and Friends” concert at Mimico Baptist Church on November 21, 2018 featuring solo performers from our parent community singing opera, music theatre and more.

Stay tuned to ESAinfo News for our next round of FACES choir. Or if you would like to receive notice of the next round, please email faces@esainfo.ca.

Mary Bella, a current ESA Parent, conducts and organizes the group. Mary has a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and a Graduate Opera Diploma. She has 6 years choral conducting experience and 20 years of professional choral singing under her belt, including 15 years with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus. She recently completed an advanced conducting workshop with Amadeus Choir and leading Canadian choral masters, Lydia Adams and Linda Beaupré. Mary has also served choirs for many years as both manager and board president. Mary believes that this choir brings together the broader ESA community in a very special way, in addition to raising funds for our school.
