Dance Department in Need of Fitness Equipment

I need your help! I’m looking for donations of fitness equipment. Items of particular interest…Pilates balls, yoga mats, tennis balls,lacrosse/road hockey balls, 9″ toy balls, skipping ropes, elastic Therabands, phone books (if anyone even has these anymore), large bath towels, etc.

The equipment doesn’t need to be pretty, just functional. I am looking to further develop the health and wellness strand in the Dance department, as well as my extra curricular stretch and strength program offered to all ESA students and staff. So if you have cleaned out your basement, garage or catch all room lately and you have come across any of these items that you are wanting to purge, send them in! Your donation will help others get moving!

Wanting to donate? Please contact me at:     [email protected]

Any help is greatly appreciated!

BIG WEEK for Visual Art!

BIG WEEK for Visual Art!

ESA Visual Art has FOUR exhibitions opening on two CONTINENTS and will finish the week with our fifth edition of the very popular ART TALK series!

Everyone is invited to our openings at the Project Gallery Studio Space for both Flora Aldridge and Xander Maclaren on Thursday March 3 – invitations are attached.

You are also invited to join Max Perone and his family at the opening of the 2016 Saatchi Gallery/ Deutsche Bank Art Prize for Schools which opens at Saatchi Gallery in London, UK this Wednesday March 2 at 7pm! www.saatchigallery.com/portfolio

Also on Wednesday back here at home we will have eight works in a group show hosted by Arts Etobicoke at Artscape Youngplace – 180 Shaw Street, 2nd Floor from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

I hope all of you will join us for Art Talk once again hosted by the very generous OCADU. Plan to be in the auditorium on the main floor at 100 McCaul Street by 7pm to ensure getting a seat as we usually hit capacity on the room. We have about 16 students in grades 10-12 who will talk about what they are interested in and what they are making. Should be an amazing evening!

Thank you all for your continued support. We are having perhaps our most successful year for scholarships and exhibitions – and next year looks another block buster! We still have at least three US shows to announce for this year, and at least one more very significant international award on its way!

If you are in grades 6-8 and are thinking of applying to esava – I hope you can come to Art Talk 5 and bring your family!

ESA Girls Rugby 7s advance to City Championship

The Girls Rugby Team have qualified for the City Championship that will take place on October 21st at Don Mills C.I. The Girls did this in convincing fashion as they went 12 and 1 on the season. They went undefeated in 2 days of tournament play.  Their only loss was to a very strong side in the semi finals of a very challenging Tournament. The Lady Eagles go into the City Championship with a number 1 seed and will face a very tough Malvern Team in the quarter finals.

Win, Win, Win, Win

An amazing performance, an affordable price, support ESA health and wellness, celebrate triumph over tragedy with your school community!

“I am still in awe.  Shelley Marshall was so brilliant!  It really is very emotional to watch her story come to life.  But the fact that it could be so bloody funny as well?….  Seriously, I feel empowered through her journey.”

Join us Thursday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are still available.

Support ESA Athletics

Did you know that ESA students excel not only in the arts and academics, but athletics too?

Our current student body has nationally and provincially ranked athletes who compete in a variety of sports.  We also have numerous school teams who have won their divisions and now, lunchtime intramurals that allow everyone to have some fun and let off some steam.

Our new Athletic Director, David Blakey, has introduced personal fitness classes, workshops and an Exercise Science (Pre-Kinesiology) course with banner attendance.

Please help us raise funds to purchase new strength and conditioning equipment, accessible to all students and staff by attending our benefit performance, “Hold Mommy’s Cigarette” on October 1 at 7:00 p.m.

Every dollar from every ticket sold will go to ESA.  Thanks.  See you then.
