Music Theatre Welcomes Lisa Horner for Comedic Song Masterclasses

Canada’s top comedic music theatre actress visits ESA this week to conduct comedic song masterclasses for our Grade 12 students. Lisa Horner has appeared on virtually every major stage in Canada, including the Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival and Mirvish productions. She is probably best known as the “Start the car!” woman from the Ikea commercials, but is uniformly recognized by directors and reviewers alike as one of Canada’s best comedic actresses. Recent credits include the world premieres of the musicals “My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding” (in the title role) “Grumpy Old Men” and “Queen for a Day”, and Lisa will next hop on a broomstick as the Wicked Witch of the West for the Mirvish production of “The Wizard of Oz”. Lisa will help guide our students through the terrifying (but ultimately hilarious) world of comedy songs in music theatre. Welcome, Lisa!
