Thank you for your interest in our school.
Etobicoke School of the Arts was established in September, 1981. It is a publicly-funded secondary school for talented young people with an enthusiasm for the arts and a desire for a sound academic education. Students must be prepared to major in one of Dance, Drama, Film, Instrumental Music, Music Theatre or Contemporary Arts. ESA students must have a commitment to the ideal that art is a vital and creative force in their own lives and the society in which they live.
ESA graduates leave the school with the qualifications to pursue post secondary education in either their chosen arts field or any other field of interest. In addition, they take with them an understanding and appreciation of their elected arts area and a command of the basic skills or tools of an art form that they can make use of for the rest of their lives.
Students at ESA follow the Ontario curriculum and work towards the attainment of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. In addition to the traditional academic subjects, students study their art every day, earning two credits in the particular arts major at the end of each year. Day-to-day work is enriched by concerts, film sessions, studio periods, master classes with visiting artists, performances and workshops by distinguished guests.
All components of the application package can be downloaded from our school website, www.esainfo.ca, on November 11, 2019.
If an applicant does not have an Ontario Ministry of Education prerequisite, please contact Wendy Luck, vice-principal at Etobicoke School of the Arts, prior to the audition date to discuss equivalent forms of prerequisite courses.
