Great Garden News!

You may have noticed the prep work which has already been done getting ready for the installation of bike racks along the parking lot walk.

After submitting a proposal – for the next phase of work on the front gardens, and in support of the ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the little courtyard – we are pleased to announce that we are to be the beneficiaries of a charitable donation totalling $4200.  WooHoo!

This donation comes – with thanks – from a group of Royal York CI grads – graduates from longer ago than they probably want me to admit to here! – who get together for an annual charity Golf Tournament each spring.  This year, they approached us wanting to contribute something to the school which would have a positive impact on climate change.

Ergo, new planting beds, and the coming of the bike racks!

The work on the front beds should be completed this fall.  The work on the courtyard will be on-going over the next 12 – 18 months.

We will be looking to assemble a team of students, parents and staff for a couple of work days in the fall of 2016, spring 2017 and the fall of 2017.  Last time round, when we did the major renovations out front, we had a team of approx 40 people helping on three separate days to get the work done.

If you like to garden, and/or don’t really garden much but would like to lend a hand to these projects, send an e-mail  to enid.wray@tdsb.on.ca and we’ll get in touch when we’re ready to get to work in the fall.
